Is it possible for a poster to delete their own post?

I don't think so. It used to be, but they have changed that because it made the threads get messy.

What you can do is "edit" the post and redact whatever needs redacting, with a note that you changed it. Be aware that if someone responds to your post, whatever the quoted will still be in their post even if you change the original.

If you don't want people to see your post you can just edit it and say something like:

This info has been blocked by Bombadillo because it did not meet his liking after he posted it
                                                  /\
                                          (In my case)
