Is there an easy way to hyperlink text within a post? I have been doing that in an outside app (Evernote) but cannot see how to do when I reply within the forum.

Yes!
I wonder why that doesn't show in my browser. I'm on FRer ,right now, so I can't double-check. Also, I always use an iPad. I will go look.

Ok. I figured it out. It had sth do with my settings in Edit Options. I changed 3 at once so not sure which one. I turned on classic mode, show friendly redirect, and show MyCode formatting. Surely, it was that last one....
