Tech Support (Parent and Student Access)/citing public domain images?
04-25-2018, 06:21 AM
Hi there,
I'd like to share a document that is a compilation of images from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The illustrations are by John Tenniel and I retrieved the images from Wikimedia Commons. Anyone know how I should cite the images? Should cite each one individually or will it be sufficient to make a blanket statement of "Illustrations by John Tenniel" ?
Thanks!
Toni

If the images are public domain (and I would think they must be by now), then the blanket statement should be fine. If you get the images from a website, the website may have stipulations about how their images may be used and how to cite. I am not certain that something being on Wikimedia Commons automatically means it's public domain, so see what their fine print says.

Yes, they are in the public domain now. Thank you!
