What do those little white rectangles on the left of a thread mean?

Tech Support (Parent and Student Access)/What do those little white rectangles on the left of a thread mean?
I can't seem to find a key to tell me what all the different colors and dots mean. I've figured out a few, but not all of it. Can someone clue me in?

If you hover your cursor over the symbol, it should tell you. I'll look around to see if it's listed anywhere.

I always go through "new posts" and hadn't noticed it. Now I am all with-it. For this anyway.
